About ETRO

ETRO AG, a long-standing family business, has been producing and selling various leather goods in Rorschacherberg for over 78 years. Her area of expertise lies particularly in leather straps and belts, which come in a variety of designs, be it with embellished details, different colors or unique buckles. The company's roots date back to 1942, when Ernst Thoma (1906-1983) founded the company under the name Ernst Thoma Rorschach, commonly known as ETRO. His business model called for traveling eastern Switzerland by bicycle and train to supply farms with a variety of practical products aimed at making agricultural work easier.

In 1973, the business was handed over to Ernst Thoma Junior (born 1941), who, together with his wife Ursula, gradually expanded the company into a production and trading company. His professional background as a trained mechanical draftsman/engineer played a crucial role in optimizing work processes. At the same time, Ursula, an experienced seamstress, brought valuable expertise to another area of the company.

In 2010 the company was passed on to the third generation, with Eric Thoma taking over the position of managing director. Under his leadership, the company continues to develop.
